The Housing Market Picked Up Steam In March Despite Headwinds
​
Homebuyers entered March with a spring in their step despite economic uncertainty and rising borrowing costs.
That’s according to Zillow’s March Market Report, which found that newly pending listings were up 4.6% YOY last month and 29.8% from February.
​
The increase brought pending listings to their second-highest monthly total since August 2022, right when the pandemic buying boom was beginning to wind down.
​
At the same time, average daily page views per for-sale listing increased 32% YOY, even as mortgage rates were ascending to multi-month highs.

“Buyers and sellers have been navigating uncertainty and market volatility in some form since the onset of the pandemic, and this month’s concern over energy prices is no different,” said Mischa Fisher, chief economist at Zillow. “However, we have persistent signals that the market has turned a corner.”
